As a mixed media artist, I enjoy the freedom of layering paint, painted paper, ephemera, and embellishing with crayon, pencil, pen, and whatever else adds to the story of my work. Most places I create spring from a rather vivid imagination that was ignighted by the iconic Crayon box of 64: the scent of the wax and the look of the black wavy lines at the top and bottom of the crayon, the name Crayola in reverse type in the center. That pack of 64 took me to many places and even helped me win a San Francisco Chronicle Junior Art Award at the age of 8 - my first paid piece. And the rest is history.Well, not quite, but it got me to the point where I now paint and create full time in my home studio in Moraga, California, and show my work on a regular basis at various venues in the East Bay.With so much swirling around us these days, my hope is that my work offers a resting place where one can find a moment of quiet reflection. From my background studying illustration, graphic design, and calligraphy at California College of the Arts and Crafts at the beloved Oakland campus to today creating themed works with a dream-like quality, the road has been a winding one. Many stops along the way, many experiences to draw from, and emotions to interpret. I enjoy sharing these meanings, and my hope is to unspool a visual thread for many years. My goal is to have each collection build on the last.I have a firm belief that art should be accessible, and thus my framed pieces are priced reasonably, and generally sold through shows in collaboration with Oakland Art Association, I also make myself available to collaborate with collectors on commissioned pieces. But please, do not ask me to match your sofa cushion.
